MH370 : Breaking the Myth

Humans have always reveled in being the alpha race on earth…  A species that takes pride in its intelligence and the resultant enormous array of groundbreaking technological advancements… A race of creators whose own creations compete with and outdate each other to obsoletion almost every single day. We live in the age of Space tourism, Google Glass & Internet of Things. We live under the omniscient eyes of global surveillance agencies that never sleep.  But somewhere along the way man did fall asleep, and while he slept on, things happened…

The ongoing massive search for the missing Triple Seven MH370 has been one of the most agonizing probes in history into the helplessness of the human condition. Many myths upheld by man came crashing down miserably with each day dawning hard and bleak on him without a trace of the disappeared jet. Man’s self-professed superiority, his blind trust in technology, his belief that his intelligence has reduced the world into a rather small space to live in and his conviction that he holds the reins that can alter the course of nature…..all tormentingly comes tumbling down upon him, as he lives through the 12th day of futile search for the missing airplane. All of a sudden he ends up overwhelmed and overpowered by the unknown… the unknown, which now encompasses one of the world’s largest jumbo jets with 239 people on board that abruptly seems to have vanished into thin air.

With VoIP, instant messaging, social networking, maglev trains, airbuses, smart cars, space ships and nearly a third of us in the world carrying real-time tracking devices in our pockets, we had almost come to think that we had the world on our palms. But it looks like we aren't there yet. Looks like it’s time to slow down a bit and let the truth wash over our egos. It’s time we gave ourselves some quality time to understand that the average human mind badly needs a break from the rat race to sit down, read, re-read and proof-read the existing technologies… and to learn how to put these advanced technologies to use, in the right places at the right time… a timely exercise which if undertaken is sure to keep man from falling prey to his own inventions in the long run.

In the meanwhile let’s not abandon hope. Lets believe that MH370 will not join the historical league of disappearances that marr the history of aviation. Let’s have faith that MH370 would be located soon. We might never be able to totally grasp the growing frustration, the grief and anger that each of the kith and kin of the missing passengers are undergoing every second that ticks by. We'll never know unless we are in their shoes. Let there be light soon. Now that the world is united in search and are hopefully doing the best they can, let’s hope to bring the truth to light soon.
