Yours Unnecessarily

Some things in life are as pointless as dogs peeing on random car tyres. It might not be as much of a necessity to the car owner, to have his car tyres peed on, as it is for the dog to demarcate its territory on a piece of asset that travels around a lot. The same thought applies to those uninvited geniuses who spend half their lives prying across the wall into the privacy of unwary people, unsuspectingly dazzling them with their hitherto unrevealed moral intelligence. However, what exactly they are trying to demarcate with their unsolicited wisdom still remains a mystery to that section of mankind stranded on the receiving end of their bounty.

These morally super-intelligent beings are everywhere now. Breathing the air we breathe, viewing the very same sights we see, but perceiving a different and perhaps a more stimulating version of reality, which simply cannot be kept to the confines of their brilliant minds. They spew wisdom anywhere and everywhere at the same speed with which they exhale carbon dioxide. Their modest moral efforts in upholding the delicate dome of the world, in order to prevent it from crashing down into an untimely apocalypse, are quite commendable and certainly deserves mention on the signboard of collective cosmic sanity.

Then, there are those special characters who leave us clueless, after they have wielded their moralistic batons, having policed the hell out of every alphabet, full-stop and exclamation mark they would have deemed unfit to appear on the face of earth; the conscientious cleaning agents of our civilization, who can sleep better only when they have ensured that the moral fabric of our society is laundered off the dirt of reason, moulded into a mask and neatly worn, so as to hide the grotesque face of a fast-evolving free thinking world.

There is no cure for this moral exhibitionism, that is manifesting offline and online in myriad ways. The number of people who are volunteering to create a joke out of themselves by indulging in these exercises are happily rising with each passing day. And, as long as these self-formed patrolling brigades are alive and thriving, we can all rest assured that there will be no dearth of comedy in this world. Besides, there is nothing quite as medicinal as laughter, for the soul.

To sum up my views on the current moral scenario in a very Malayali way, I shall empathize with our good ol' Brahmadattan Nampoothirippadu who had once quite famously lamented, "Psychosis-nte pala avasthaantharangalum kandittund...Ithra bhayaanakamaaya version ithaadhyaa..."
